Consumer Cancellation Rights
Information about statutory cancellation rights that may apply to distance and off-premises bookings.
Last updated: 9 August 2026
1. When these rights may apply
If you are a consumer and you book a service online, by telephone or away from our business premises, UK consumer law may give you a statutory right to cancel the contract without giving a reason. There are exceptions, so the right does not apply in every situation.
2. Cancellation period for services
For a covered service contract, the cancellation period normally ends 14 days after the day the contract is entered into.
3. How to cancel
You may cancel by making any clear statement that you want to cancel. You can contact us at [andrew@krhvaleting.com, 07572085693.
It is enough to send your cancellation before the cancellation period ends. Keep a copy or other evidence of the cancellation.
4. If you ask us to start work during the cancellation period
If your appointment is within the cancellation period and you want the service to start before that period has ended, we will ask you to make a separate express request to start early. For an off-premises contract, that request should be provided on a durable medium such as email or text.
If you then cancel after work has started, you may have to pay a proportionate amount for the service supplied up to the time you told us you were cancelling, where the legal conditions for that payment are met.
If the service is fully performed during the cancellation period, the statutory right to cancel can end once performance is complete where the legal requirements have been satisfied, including the required request and acknowledgement.
5. Refunds after statutory cancellation
Where you validly cancel and a refund is due, we will reimburse payments as required by law, using the same payment method unless you agree otherwise. Any lawful proportionate amount for service already supplied may be deducted where applicable.
6. Suggested early-start wording
Use a separate unticked checkbox online, or obtain the same clear request by email or text:
“I request that KRH Valeting starts the booked service before the 14-day cancellation period has ended. I understand that, if I cancel after the service has started, I may have to pay for the work supplied up to cancellation. I also understand that, if the service is fully performed in accordance with the legal requirements, my statutory right to cancel may end.”
7. Model cancellation wording
You do not have to use this wording, but you may copy and send it if convenient:
To: [FULL LEGAL NAME], [POSTAL ADDRESS], [EMAIL]
I give notice that I cancel my contract for the following service: [SERVICE].
Booked on: [DATE]
Customer name: [NAME]
Customer address: [ADDRESS]
Date: [DATE]
No handwritten signature is required if you send the cancellation electronically.
8. Your other rights
These cancellation rights are separate from your rights if a service is not performed with reasonable care and skill or otherwise does not meet the contract.
